Unless you are an absolute design nerd you probably don’t know what the term “kern” means. Kerning, for the ignorant, happens to be the spacing between letterforms. Not typically something a person cares to think about day to day, but if you are a typesetter kerning is very important. Anyway, that’s the end of the school lesson. This summer Veer released another summer activity book, this one including a sidekick named Kernie. Veer asked participants to photograph Kernie in different locations or with badly kerned signs. Take a look at the photo gallery.
