Laura’s Candies is New Orleans’ oldest candy store and you’ve probably had a praline or two from their French Quarter store. This family-run company was in dire need of an update, but did not want to lose the credibility and recognition of their existing logo. We kept many of the elements from the older logo when designing the new logo including the extended “L”, the red color and text. The new logo works as a seal for the candy boxes (which we are in the process of redesigning as well).
Learn more about maintaining elements of a logo when updating the look-and-feel in one of our recent blog posts.

NOLA Lending prides themselves on doing one thing – really well. That one thing is residential mortgages, especially for first time home buyers. They educate their customers, answer all their questions, and keep in constant communication throughout the process.
NOLA Lending’s new website features their new marketing campaign with headlines that read, “We won’t leave you hanging.”, “We’ll lead you on the path.”, and “We’ll guide you through.” Their website also features current rates, calculators, and a blog. NOLA Lending is able to keep their website fresh and up-to-date using the fully customized WordPress CMS (Content Management System) theme that Design the Planet developed for them.

Lucy’s Retired Surfer Bar & Restaurant is a great place to go for a drink and a bite to eat, but how do you know what is today’s special? As part of their branding and communication pieces, Design the Planet developed a weekly email for the restaurant’s two locations to update their customers about what’s going on at Lucy’s, the daily specials, and special promotions. The email is aptly named the Surf’s Up(date).

Design the Planet has worked with the West Bank Rotary Club for over 8 years and their international convention is coming to New Orleans in 2011. The website is the main communication tool for the organizers because of the shear number of Rotarians needing the information from around the world. Our team has also added social media to promote the convention and to keep Rotarians informed of the upcoming events and changes.

Design the Planet had one of it’s world famous “Fun Friday” events again this past month. We took a trip down to “The American Sector,” attached to the always educational, National WWII Museum.
While we were waiting for our food, we decided to snap a couple of pictures.
Look at those glorious moustaches!
As much as Perryn tried, he just couldn’t handle the moustache for the entire month of may. It’s OK, Perryn. We still love you!

It’s that time of the year – intern season. This year we have one of last year’s interns, Laura, returning to us as a junior designer, and we’ve also been joined by Caleb, who’s this summer’s intern. We’re looking forward to working with two fresh perspectives and it’s always fun to add new personalities to the group.

Second Line Paint is a new initiative with the well-known New Orleans not for profit, The Green Project. For years, The Green Project has sold recycled, donated paint to the community and they have perfected the process so much that they can now develop different colors with the same consistency of virgin paints. The Second Line Paint logo reinforces the use of second generation paints with the naturally New Orleanian second line of painters.

A quick celebration for Perryn getting back in town from Ireland, Nate’s birthday (March 30th) and Jeremy’s birthday (April 1st – seriously). As if Beer Thirty needed justification!
Pictures taken by Ryan (not pictured) and black and white for ‘dramatic effect’.
Cheers!
